Xhaka & the stars left Arsenal to win the championship title
Arsenal’s 20-year period without a Premier League title also saw many players leave and then be crowned with new teams, of which Granit Xhaka won the Bundesliga championship with Leverkusen is the latest name.
Samir Nasri
Nasri spent 3 years with Arsenal (2008-2011) but did not win any titles. After moving to Man City, the French player immediately won 2 Premier League titles, 1 English League Cup and 1 English Super Cup.
Aaron Ramsey
After 11 years at Arsenal, Ramsey parted ways with Arsenal and signed with Juventus on a free transfer in 2019. The midfielder won the Serie A championship in his first season in Italy.
Olivier Giroud
Giroud won three FA Cups in five and a half years at Arsenal and lifted the title for the fourth time just five months after joining Chelsea in January 2018. The French striker then scored against his former team in the 2019 Europa League final, helping the Blues win 4-1. Giroud is currently playing for Milan and has also won the Serie A championship title with the Rossoneri.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s career at Arsenal did not go smoothly and the midfielder was forced to move to Liverpool for a fee of 35 million pounds. At Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain won the Champions League in the 2018/19 season, the European Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Premier League in the 2019/20 season.
Serge Gnabry
Although he did not make an impression at Arsenal or West Brom, Gnabry rediscovered his best form at Bremen before joining Bayern Munich. The German winger has been an integral part of the Gray Tigers’ recent success, winning 5 Bundesliga titles, 2 German Cups, 3 German Super Cups, 1 Champions League, 1 European Super Cup and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.
Wojciech Szczesny
Szczesny spent 8 years playing for Arsenal, including 3 seasons on loan. He and the Gunners won 2 FA Cup championships, and 1 English Super Cup. It wasn’t until moving to Juventus in 2017 that Szczesny really attracted attention, helping the Old Lady win the throne three times in Serie A along with two Coppa Italia championships.
Gael Clichy
Clichy stayed with Arsenal longer than Nasri when he joined the Gunners in 2003 and won 1 Premier League championship and 1 FA Cup. In 2011, he and Nasri moved to Man City and achieved the same results as their French compatriots at Etihad Stadium.
Cesc Fabregas
Fabregas only won 1 FA Cup championship after 8 years with Arsenal (2003-2011), but after leaving Emirates Stadium he won many individual titles with Barca and then Chelsea.
Robin Van Persie
Unable to win the Premier League with Arsenal and only win the FA Cup title (2004/05), Van Persie left in the summer of 2012 and immediately won the Premier League title with MU (2012/13).
In addition to the names mentioned above, the list of great players who have left Arsenal and won championship titles is quite large such as: Thierry Henry, Sol Campell, Anthony Stokes, Sebastian Larsson, Lassana Diarra, Kolo Toure, Ashley Cole, Patrick Vieira , Adebayor, Pennant, Flamini, Reyes, Gilberto Silva, Eduardo, Hleb…
