Legendary NBA baller Dirk Nowitzki was recently quizzed to choose one between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The raging debate between the two footballers has been going on for more than two decades now.
Many legendary players from the NBA have chipped in with their respective opinions on the GOAT debate, and Dirk was the latest to pick Messi over Ronaldo, saying that the Argentine is more ‘low-key’. While picking the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner, Nowitzki also revealed why he is not a big fan of CR7 since he is more like a one-man show claimed the NBA superstar.
Often, Cristiano is seen taking off his jersey, and that is not Drik Nowitzki’s style, who relates a lot more to Messi.
“I’m a Messi guy. I don’t know how he carries himself or how he plays; he is a little super quick, like super fast. Ronaldo is one of the fastest players in the game, too. Ronaldo to me, the shirt off and the, ‘Hey hey look at me’, it’s just not my style. Messi to me is way more low-key and I could identify more of that,” Dirk Nowitzki told CBS Sport via the Athletic.
The two legendary footballers are past their prime but still continue to defy all odds. While Messi helped Inter Miami win their maiden silverware last season, Ronaldo is the leading goal-scorer in the Saudi Pro League currently and he has scored 36 goals across all competitions this year.
Playing in different continents, Ronaldo and Messi continue to be compared to each other as the Portuguese has often seen himself getting mocked by opposition fans with ‘Messi’ chants, and that has also been the case with the Argentine.
While Messi will next be seen in action against Monterrey as Inter Miami hope to turn around the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal first-leg 2-1 deficit, Ronaldo recently collected a red-card against Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup semifinal match and could face a two-match ban.
