Smith-Schuster will likely sign at his veteran minimum of $1.21 million for 2024, NFL Insider Jordan Shultz reported.
The New England Patriots, who cut the wide receiver, will have to pay Smith-Schuster $7 million minus whatever he earns elsewhere this season, according to Spotrac.
NFL fans flooded social media to share their thoughts on the Chiefs’ recent move.
“They can’t keep getting away with this!” said one fan.
“How much help does Mahomes need,” a second fan wrote to X, adding three laughing cat emojis.
“Is he even a weapon anymore?” questioned a third.
“Makes me wonder if Hollywood [Brown] is going to miss some time,” a fourth speculated.
“Didn’t expect this but makes sense,” said a fifth fan.
This comes after a disappointing stint on the Patriots for Smith-Schuster.
The wide receiver struggled to stay healthy and could not replicate the same success he had with the Chiefs.

During the 2023 season with the Patriots, Smith-Schuster played in 11 games and secured 29 catches for 260 receiving yards and a touchdown.
In his 2022 campaign with the Chiefs, JuJu caught 78 receptions for 933 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Smith-Schuster played well in the playoffs for the Chiefs helping them defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57.
In three playoff games, he pulled in 10 receptions for 89 receiving yards.
