Spanish newspaper Nacional reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe decided to fire Erik ten Hag at the end of the season, with the search for a new captain for MU underway.
According to Metro, the Red Devils will have to pay 10 million pounds in compensation if they decide to fire Erik ten Hag (under contract until summer 2025) and his team at the end of the 2023/24 season.
The new co-owner of MU is said to sympathize with Erik ten Hag, with many objective difficulties this season. However, to bring the Red Devils back, Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to be strong and decisive.
As Daily Mail said a few days ago, some stars in the Old Trafford dressing room believe that the Dutch coach will lose his job after the end of this season. It could be even sooner if MU ends up winning tickets to the Champions League next season.
While some still support Ten Hag, there are other players who are said to complain about the former Ajax captain’s training methods and intensity. They believe that MU suffered many injuries this season because Ten Hag’s exercises were too heavy.
To replace Ten Hag, MU targeted Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi – who Pep Guardiola advised Barca to bring to Nou Camp, alongside Gareth Southgate and Thomas Frank.
In addition, Thomas Tuchel is also said to be interested in the ‘hot seat’ at MU. Most recently, Julian Nagelsmann, who holds the German national team until the end of July this year, is ready for an adventure in the Premier League. Nagelsmann even wants to know the Red Devils’ answer soon because his contract with the German team will expire after the EURO 2024 finals.
