Former Brazilian international Daniel Alves was sentenced by a Barcelona court to four and a half years in prison for sexual assault. But the case is not yet closed, when Brazilian star Neymar was criticized by public opinion for his so-called kindness towards senior Alves.
Specifically, according to information from the Brazilian press, Neymar spent 150,000 euros to help Daniel Alves compensate the victim for damages. The court also relied on that to reduce the sentence for Daniel Alves, even though the victim had previously requested a sentence of up to 12 years.

But Neymar’s actions created mixed reactions, when many Brazilian fans and politicians criticized him.
Brazilian Women’s Minister Cida Goncalves called the sentence “light” for the “brutality”. Meanwhile, Workers’ Party President and Brazilian representative Gleisi Hoffmann criticized Neymar’s role in the case.
