After being out of action for 6 months, Neymar still holds the Cup that Ronaldo craves
After Al Hilal’s victory over Al Ittihad, Neymar added the Saudi Super Cup to his trophy collection.
Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in the UAE saw Al Hilal continue their unbeaten run as they easily dispatched Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad 4-1 in the Saudi Super Cup final.
Just 3 days ago, Al Hilal defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in the semi-finals. In the end, Al Hilal took the throne at the Arab Super Cup, this was the 67th title in the 67-year history of the club.
This morning, Brazilian star Neymar was in the stands to cheer for his team Al Hilal. The surprising thing here is that, despite being out of action for 6 months due to a ligament injury, Neymar went down to the field to celebrate and receive the championship title with his teammates after the match ended.
Even though he did not play a single minute, Neymar still received a medal, which was truly a surprise that even he did not expect. The Brazilian superstar humorously said this moment was like when he was in school: “The boys all did their homework, and I just had to go there to get points.”
Neymar has suffered a ligament injury since October 2023, in a match between the Brazilian national team and the Uruguay national team. This is the first time in his career that Neymar has suffered this type of injury. From 2020 until now, he has taken 424 days off due to muscle, ankle and rib problems. The torn cruciate ligament and meniscus forced Neymar to have surgery, and it is expected to take 6 to 8 months to recover.
According to statistics, the Brazilian player has only played 5 matches for Al-Hilal, since joining for 90 million Euros last summer. However, even without the services of Neymar, Al Hilal still maintains an unbeaten streak, they have not lost any more matches since losing the Arab Club Champions Cup final to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in August 2023.
