Danish automaker Zenʋo launched the Aurora supercar at a private event the day before Monterey Auto Week in August 2023. But while most people expected to see a supercar, There are actually two: Agil and Tur. While the former was built primarily for performance, the latter was created to be a low-performance touring car.
Danish automaker Zenʋo is not the first automaker to produce the Aurora. Before that, it successfully developed and launched the TSR, TS1 GT and ST1, just to name a few. Zenʋo developed these supercars from the ground up, and created the engines and technology behind them to perform better and go faster than most other cars in the niche supercar segment. With the Aurora, the Danish automaker has proven that electrification works, especially in such fast cars. But the problem isn’t just the engine and its power. In addition, it is the design, aerodynamics and unique features that make Aurora a differentiating technical product in the market.
Agile was the first to leave Zenʋo’s lab. The automaker has built it based on the car’s ZM1 modular design. This element not only ensures a rigid structure of the ‘ehicle’ but also a safe cell. Additionally, it allows the automaker to create a car with exposed suspension components and an integrated engine compartment in the same cellular structure as the cockpit. Many automakers have tried the MONocoque solution, but typically, they attach the engine compartment to the rest of the structure.
At the front, the narrow, pinched front end is shaped like an open-wheel racer but with LED headlights on either side. Under the nose, Zenʋo installed a carbon fiber splitter to increase downforce. It’s not there just for decoration. In its shape, the Aurora Agil showed off its long, curved windshield along the roof line and the slope where the manufacturer placed the engine compartment cover. Finally, at the rear, a large spoiler adorns the rear of the car. Along with the vehicle’s other aerodynamic enhancements, the Aurora Agil provides 1940 lbs (880 kg) of downforce at 155 mph (250 km/h).
Inside, the Aurora Agil features exposed carbon fiber details on the center stack, dashboard and seats. In front of the dryer, the automaker has installed a three-dial control panel, where the left panel rotates independently to display the infotainment system with wireless connection to the smartphone. Alternatively, the right dial can do the same trick reproducing the LCD display for dry dynamic modes and performance. That’s unusual and unique in the market.
Behind the cockpit, Zenʋo installed a twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 1250 PS (1233 HP), but that’s not all. Powered by an integrated electronic motor, it can reach up to 1,450 PS (1430 HP). Combined with two other engines, the total capacity reaches 1,850 PS (1825 HP).
