The island of Sri Lanka is full of elephants no matter which direction you turn. We therefore started our trip to Kataragama temple fully aware that we would most likely encounter elephants in the vicinity. Many tourists visit this place to pray and offer various offerings to the revered “Kataragama Deviyo”.
One cannot miss the elephant looking for food from tourists and pilgrims passing through the area. The giant “Fruit Booth” elephant used to enjoy the habit of receiving more and more from people journeying along this route. Of course, this place often carries the scent of fruit salad, explaining why these elephants keep coming back, even after a short period of time.
Many individuals who explore the vicinity of the Kataragama temple show their kindness and goodness by donating food to the beloved Sri Lankan elephants. In such situations, onlookers alerted a couple who got out of their car to give bananas to the elephant. This particular species of elephant is known for its aggressive behavior towards humans, especially when they are outside vehicles on the road.
When you get a chance to explore Sri Lanka’s ѕtᴜппіпɡ island, be sure to visit the Kataragama temple to seek blessings from Kataragama Deviyo. Additionally, you can catch more elephants in the locations mentioned below.
